Just as the series puts Sharpwin together at long last, it throws a spanner in the works. During the Season 4 premiere, Sharpe announced that she was going to London. That’s where her life was calling her now as she wanted to do more to help people. Where did that leave her and Max?
Max decided that he’d go with her. She’s not put up too much of a fight, either. They leave in six weeks, but there are a few barriers in the way right now. And I’m not talking the visa barriers that never get discussed on TV shows.
Max and Sharpe haven’t said anything to anyone at the hospital yet. In the promo for New Amsterdam Season 4, Episode 2, Sharpe says that she doesn’t trust Max to “be [her] partner,” but that line seems cut. Is that really what she tells him?
To be honest, I can see it. Max is work orientated. He cares about his patients and the healthcare system, and they often come before anyone else in his life.
An overrun ICU on New Amsterdam Season 4, Episode 2
Meanwhile, the hospital has to deal with an ICU that is overrun but understaffed. That’s even with the residents that have turned up in the ER. The doctors and nurses will need to work as quickly as possible to treat all the patients, and there is going to be a lot of stress.
Then there’s Iggy, who has his own residents. He’s not treating patients, but that isn’t going to stop him from sharing his advice. It could lead to problems with his residents, though.
Finally, there’s Reynolds, who has made it clear that he wants to be with Lyn. She doesn’t want to leave her husband, though, making Reynolds the other man. Please don’t continue down this path New Amsterdam. I’m losing so much respect for Reynolds right now. He knows what he’s doing is wrong and he’s still going for it anyway.
