The returned people become even more disenfranchised with their lodgings when new rules are put in place in 4400 Season 1, Episode 2.
The new rules are in place for their “protection.” We’ve all heard that before. Most of the time, those rules are there for nobody’s protection but as a show of force. And that certainly seems to be the case here.
One of the guards is certainly discriminating against the returned people. This isn’t out of fear of who these returned people are or what they could do. It’s all due to the color of their skin. There’s no denying that.
Even the people from the past understand this. Claudette has said that the feelings now haven’t changed from the time period she came from. She knows how the minds of the guards are working.
Testing abilities on 4400 Season 1, Episode 2
There will be some fear of what some of the people can do. There’s a reason why Claudette has hidden her ability to heal quickly from a lot of people. She just trusts the doc, Andre, and LaDonna. She doesn’t even trust the Reverend.
That lack of trust is possibly a good thing. There’s something going on with Rev. He thinks he is brought back for a higher calling, and that could have a knock-on effect with other members of the returned group.
Then there’s Shanice who has now accepted that she has been gone for 16 years. However, she wants to make it clear that she didn’t just abandon her family. She was taken, and she needs to figure out why. An unexpected visitor may help her do that if she’s allowed to see this person that is.
