It’s another Monday, which means we’re gearing up for new episodes of our favorite shows. What’s going on with All American in The CW’s schedule?
We start off with some bad news. There isn’t a new episode of All American tonight. The CW’s holiday schedule is in full swing.
Yes, this means there isn’t another new episode of the series in 2021. Prom night was the final episode, leaving a few characters’ storylines with questionable futures.
There isn’t going to be a rerun tonight. The CW has opted for reruns of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Penn and Teller: Fool Us. This isn’t too surprising considering when it comes to reruns, these two shows tend to perform the best.
When will All American return with new episodes?
The lack of new episode is linked to the holiday season. The live ratings drop this time of year, so big scripted shows aren’t aired new. It just doesn’t make sense for the networks to risk them.
The shows go on a break, some longer than others. In this case, we’re waiting until February for the show’s return. This is a longer break than we’d like, and this is likely due to the pandemic.
Not only do the shows need time to film and get through post-production, but the networks also need to fit in a lot of shows into a season. For The CW, it has a lot of new shows but it didn’t cancel much from the previous season. With Mark Pedowitz wanting to get back to the original style of scheduling, it means some breaks are longer and episode counts are shorter than we’d usually expect.
All American Season 4 will be back soon, though. We’ll also at least get a rerun on Monday, Jan. 3.
