The Good Doctor has been on a break for the holiday season, but is it back yet? Will we see a new episode of Season 5 tonight, Monday, Jan. 10?
We certainly have a lot of questions about various characters on The Good Doctor. Sadly, we’re not getting answers just yet.
While a lot of shows are returning this month, The Good Doctor isn’t. We won’t get a new episode tonight, and there isn’t even going to be a rerun. Instead, ABC will air a rerun of Judge Steve Harvey. This is certainly disappointing, and now we need to know when the medical drama will return.
Why isn’t The Good Doctor on tonight?
It’s not 100% clear what the reasoning behind the break is. There is a chance that it is partly due to the pandemic, but it could also be linked to the upcoming Winter Olympic Games. We know that ABC is holding a few shows back from returning right now. Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 are among shows that won’t get new episodes in January 2022.
ABC hasn’t yet confirmed when The Good Doctor Season 5 will return. It’s likely going to be in February at the earliest. That will depend on how the new series Promised Land performs in the timeslot. That premieres next Monday, Jan. 24.
The return of the series is something we’re keeping an eye on. It’s possible that we’ll get it back sometime in late February or early March. With an 18-episode (ish) season, this will mean there is still time to bring it back and run it through until May.
