The holidays are over, and the majority of shows are returning from their breaks. What about Grey’s Anatomy? Is TGIT back in action tonight?
There are a few shows we’re looking forward to seeing back on our screens in 2022. Grey’s Anatomy is certainly one of them, but there’s some bad news when it comes to the return. There isn’t a new episode of the series on tonight.
In fact, there isn’t even a rerun. ABC has opted to bring a new limited series to the TGIT lineup instead. Starting at 8/7c, Women of the Movement will premiere. It all ends at 10 p.m. with a docuseries that looks into the true events taking place in Women of the Movement.
Why isn’t Grey’s Anatomy on tonight?
The lack of new episode isn’t linked to the pandemic. It’s a planned delay by ABC, and partly due to the Winter Olympics. It’s also to bring an exciting new series to the top timeslot on the network.
The Winter Olympics will take place in February. While ABC won’t air the games, the network isn’t going to want to run the risk of low live ratings opposite them. They’ll air on NBC and ABC will opt for some alternative programming. All networks will.
When is Grey’s Anatomy back in 2022?
We know exactly when the series will return. Get Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022 in your diary.
However, there is some bad news that recently came. The show was supposed to return to production on Jan. 10 but that’s been delayed until Jan. 12. This is just two days so it shouldn’t affect the return of the show. We don’t yet know if the delayed return will be extended further though.
This delay is due to the pandemic. Case numbers are soaring in L.A. and most of the L.A.-based shows are delaying production due to it.
Grey’s Anatomy is set to return on Feb. 24, 2022. Catch up on the season on Hulu.
