Now, meet the 11 new teams who go on their journey of a lifetime when host Phil Keoghan kicks off the 33rd edition of the CBS Original series THE AMAZING RACE on the two-hour season premiere, Wednesday, Jan. 5 (8:00- 10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*. The historic season began filming in Feb. 2020 but after three legs, was forced to halt production due to the covid-19 pandemic. Over one and a half years later and the longest pitstop in the show’s history, Race resumed and concluded production this fall. The Amazing Race fans are so happy that the competition series is back on our screen! It’s crazy how the first episodes were filmed before the pandemic, considering where we are now. When COVID began to arrive, all shows and movies halted production to care for its staff and crew. Since then, most shows and movies have picked back up, but it took a little longer for The Amazing Race to hit the road again due to the delays and lock downs across the world.
Fans were lucky that The Amazing Race season 32 filmed before the pandemic so the network was able to give us some new episodes. However, season 32 wrapped on Dec. 16, 2020. Filming for season 33 of the show didn’t start until February 2020, and that didn’t last for too long.

The season 33 premiere featured episodes 1 and 2, so tonight we get to enjoy the third episode. Episode 3 is titled “Who Has This One In The Bag?” and we’ll see the teams race through Scotland and get the news about the pandemic. The episode begins at 9 p.m. ET only on CBS.
