Two words: Hello, Sidney. Ghostface is back for the fifth time, and he’s ready to haunt Woodsboro once again in Scream 5, also known simply as Scream. With it set for release in early January, many fans are wondering when they can own the horror film on Blu-ray and DVD.
Twenty-five years after the events of the first film, Scream 5 returns to the scene of the crime in the cursed town of Woodsboro. Another killer impersonating Ghostface is once again killing innocent teens.
Returning to the film for the fifth time in the franchise are Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, David Arquette as Dewey Riley, and Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers. This trio will be called to unmask the killer and stop the violence in Woodsboro. Marley Shelton also returns as Judy Hicks, the Deputy Sheriff of Woodsboro in Scream 4.
The ensemble cast includes Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. Many of these actors play characters related to previous victims from earlier films in the franchise.
Scream 5 opens nationwide in theaters on Jan. 14, 2022. After its theatrical run, when will it be available on Blu-ray and DVD?
Scream 5 Blu-ray and DVD release details
Like most films, Scream 5 will head to PVOD first and foremost. If it follows the same pattern of previous releases from Paramount Pictures like Clifford the Big Red Dog and Snake Eyes, it will be available to rent on digital services four to six weeks after the premiere.
However, there is a chance the film will arrive on the studio’s streaming service, Paramount Plus, before heading to Blu-ray and DVD. Films like A Quiet Place Part II went to the streaming service after a 45-day theatrical window. It is unknown if Scream 5 has the same deal in place.
At this time, there is no Blu-ray and DVD release date. However, films typically wait 90 days before heading to Blu-ray and DVD, which would put the release somewhere in April 2022.
