Euphoria season 2 episode 4 is now streaming on HBO Max. If you missed it, stream it now before reading ahead as there are spoilers below!
Final spoiler warning!
When Cal confronted Fezco (or, should we say, when Ashtray beat the truth out of him), he learned that Nate lied. Fez didn’t even know Cal had sex with Jules, much less that there was video with evidence. It’s a super embarrassing moment for Cal, to say the least. I immediately assumed that Cal was going to rush home to beat Nate, or maybe worse. Instead, Cal goes a different kind of crazy.
After several drinks, Cal drives off in his Jeep and heads to the bar where he was last at with Derek. Now, I hate Cal as much as the next person, but who else was hoping that Derek would be there? Their love story is tragic, but I still don’t feel bad for Cal. Everyone has the option to change and grow into a better person.
To be honest, I wouldn’t have been too upset if Cal got into a car accident, but something even more surprising happens. After getting thrown out of the bar, Cal returns home and urinates all over the entrance. His wife, Marsha, hears him and is shocked to see Cal there. Nate and Aaron come out of their rooms to see what’s going on. Cal begins to tell his family that he is “a man, “an animal, a Rottweiler,” and that he’ll sleep with anyone he wants to, “men, women, transexuals.”
Aaron appears disgusted and can’t believe what his father is saying. Cal calls him out, telling Aaron that if he were only sleeping with women, he wouldn’t mind. Cal continues to talk about his double life and tells his family that his double life is not his biggest regret, his biggest regret is Nate. I’m not a fan of Nate, but I do feel for him here. How awful for your own father to say this.
Will Cal Jacobs return in Euphoria season 2?
Cal finishes his rant by telling Marsha that he knows she saved loved letters from other men, that he knows about Aarons “wild” porn, and that he knows Nate’s life is a complete secret. With that, Cal grabs a family portrait and leaves the house.
Instead of confronting Nate about what happened with Fez, Cal appears to be over it. He has thrown in the towel and doesn’t care what happens. Cal is done living a double life. Cal taking his family portrait with him is sign that he has no intentions of returning.
What do you think? Will Cal be back or is he gone for good?
