After an understandable long wait, The Rising of the Shield Hero is finally on its way with a brand new season 2!
This is certainly great news for fans of the isekai anime as the highly-anticipated second season was initially announced nearly three years ago but was shortly postponed after the series’ production studio, Kinema Citrus, announced that there was a delay caused by “various reasons”.
Fans, though sympathetic, were a bit gutted that this beloved series wouldn’t be returning in October 2021 as they were initially told. However, there’s no more need for tears any longer as season 2 is coming much, much sooner than anyone could have thought.

Get ready because The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 is coming your way in April 2022!
The anime’s official Twitter divulged tons of new exciting things about the upcoming season including the release month for season 2, however, an episode count was not one of them. Even still, we expect that this new season would have a total of 25 episodes just like its first season.

Naofumi Iwatani and his band of strong comrades may have survived the first wave of apocalyptic disasters, but with the soon-coming second wave, he certainly has his work cut out for him as this wave is more brutal, more sinister, and requires much more strength than anyone could have ever guessed.
How will Naofumi rise above this impending doom? Will his new friends be able to withstand the danger? And most importantly, will his reputation completely bounce back from the awful nosedive it took back in season 1, or will it, once again, plummet?
