Is another Breaking Bad spin-off in the works?

To this very day, Breaking Bad is one of the greatest shows in television history.

Hailed for its gripping story, talented cast, and, best of all, its many shocking plot twists, the 2008 series is still a top pick for many all over the world. But, will fans of the show ever be able to experience more than one spin-off of this series—a franchise of some sort—or has the Breaking Bad ball officially stopped rolling? We tell you everything we know so far below.

Will there be another Breaking Bad spin-off?

There might be!

Variety reports creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould are not writing off the possibility of another anytime soon, especially given that Breaking Bad‘s critically acclaimed series, Better Call Saul is doing exceptionally well in every capacity.

What the spin-off would entail this time is not yet known, but Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Gustavo “Gus” Fring in both of the series, has a few ideas of what story Gould and Gilligan could tell.

“I do think there’s more life in Gus. Maybe not this year, maybe not next year,” Esposito expressed. “But there’s something that we all are intrigued by and we want to find out about. Even me.”

Esposito’s character has always been shrouded in mystery hence why both himself and fans of the titles are dying for a series exploring the identity of this menacing man. However, Esposito believes it would be a nice sentiment to show a more “gentle” side to his character should the creators ever explore this idea of a spin-off surrounding Gus Fring.

Esposito stated: “I’d love to see [Gus] being gentle with his children, raising children, having a wife, all those things. I think there’s room for all that if we were ever to come back to a world in which we were to discover where he came from.”

Other spin-off ideas were also brought up by stars like Patrick Fabian and Jonathan Banks. Banks would like to explore the mother of his character Mike, while Fabian would enjoy an installment where Kim and his character, Hamlin, head to the Caribbean to start their own “pro bono lawyer workshop”.

Perhaps we’ll see Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould pick up one of the pitches these actors suggested in the future. While we wait for that to (hopefully) happen, be sure to watch Better Call Saul, the legendary spin-off series that started it all, right now on AMC and AMC+.
