Is Netflix’s Anatomy of a Scandal based on a book?

Netflix always seems to have its finger on the pulse. The sentiment is true when it comes to the recent release Anatomy of a Scandal which is being discussed heavily in the media.

Considering our obsession with true crime, celebrities, and scandals, then its popularity should come as no surprise. In particular, it’s a nice glimpse behind the curtain for those of us living in the US. We don’t know much about British politics for the most part so it’s nice to see how things are across the pond.

Not only that, but Anatomy of a Scandal has a pretty stellar cast, too. With the likes of Sienna Miller, Naomi Scott, and Michelle Dockery featured, it’s no surprise that everyone is clamoring to learn more about the series.

One question viewers have is if Anatomy of a Scandal is based on something such as a book or is the show an original idea from the creator?

Is Netflix’s Anatomy of a Scandal based on a book?

I won’t keep you in suspense any longer. Yes, Anatomy of a Scandal is based on a book. First published back in 2018, the book shares its title with the Netflix series and was written by Sarah Vaughan. Deemed as an intense thriller, it’s obvious why fans are clamoring to watch the series.

Considering the rise in book-to-TV adaptations, this is exactly in Netflix’s wheelhouse. The streaming service has managed to adapt some of the most beloved stories and make them into household names. Look at the Bridgerton series for example which is a far cry from Anatomy of A Scandal.

Either way, if you can’t get enough of Netflix’s adaptation, it might be fun to read the source material. It would be cool to see what Netflix changed and if it actually worked within the context of the book. Nevertheless, it’s another book you should add to your to-be-read pile if you end up loving the show.

Do you plan on reading Anatomy of a Scandal or are you just sticking to Netflix? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
