Disney+ has a stacked summer line-up with more than one highly anticipated release coming to the streamer in the next few months.

At the tail end of May, Obi-Wan Kenobi will finally make its debut. The series, which stars Ewan McGregor in the titular role, reunites Star Wars fans with the Jedi Knight ten years after he clashed with Anakin Skywalker in a battle that tore their relationship to shreds.

We know the two will fight again in what can only be an epic sequence in the series now that Anakin has become the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Also on deck this summer is Love, Victor. The series was originally supposed to premiere on Disney+ before it was moved to Hulu due to its maturity. The claim was that its content didn’t fit under the House of Mouse’s family friendly banner despite its TV-14 rating not falling outside the bounds of the streamer’s rating allowance.

While one could point to the presence of alcohol and the show’s teen characters exploring their sexuality, it couldn’t be overlooked that Victor, the star of the series, was a teen boy in the midst of a gay awakening. Many believe that was the reason for the move regardless of what was officially stated.

Now that Disney+ can no longer hide behind their family friendly brand due to the presence of the former Netflix original series that make up The Defenders Saga (which are all rated TV-MA and necessitated an update to parental controls), Love, Victor is making its way to the platform.

This is also likely due to the criticism Disney drew due to the company’s lack of public opposition to Florida’s HB 1557 bill –colloquially referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Since the backlash, Disney CEO Bob Chapek has been more open about the company’s position and stance in supporting the LGBTQ+ community at-large and within the Disney family.

But, regardless of why Love, Victor will make its premiere on Disney+, it’s a win that the show will finally be brought to the streamer. Here’s the full list of shows coming to Disney+ in summer 2022 including their premiere dates, episode counts, casts, synopses, and more!
