The Night Court sequel is not coming to NBC in 2022

Night Court will return to NBC in the 2022-2023 television year but not as a reboot. Think of this new series as a sequel or, better yet, a revival.

The sitcom stars Melissa Rauch as Abby Stone, the daughter of Harry Stone. As good humored as her father and an unapologetic optimist, Abby has followed in Harry’s footsteps and presides as a judge at night for the Manhattan arraignment court.

Though her father has passed, his legacy is still felt through the halls of the courthouse (as shall Harry Anderson’s be within this series). Abby does her utmost in her position to bring a sense of order to the court despite its crew of oddballs and cynics which include former night court prosecutor, Dan Fielding. John Larroquette is set to reprise his role as the narcissistic and quick-witted lawyer.

Fans of the original series, which ran from 1984-1992, are in for a treat with this continuation of the story, but viewers are going to have to wait longer than the fall for the show’s premiere.

Here’s what we know!

When does the Night Court sequel premiere on NBC?

Night Court has been held until the midseason by NBC. As such, the series will make its debut sometime between January and March in 2023. We’ll keep you posted on an exact premiere date.

Besides Rauch and Larroquette, the cast includes (according to IMDb):

  • India de Beaufort as Olivia
  • Kapil Talwalkar as Neil
  • Lacretta as Donna Gurgs

A trailer has yet to be released for the series. However, we do have a first look image to share of Rauch and Larroquette. It’s from the pilot as Dan Fielding approaches the bench to speak to Judge Abby Stone.
