Bob’s Burgers: Will Louise and Millie ever be friends?

After months of waiting, Season 12 of Bob’s Burgers is finally here. This season feels incredibly special as so many developments for the show have been made within the last few months. We finally got a release date for the movie and we know the show has been renewed for another season after this one.

Thankfully since its arrival in 2011, Bob’s Burgers hasn’t changed much in the last ten years. Aside from a few changes to the show’s humor and a sharper animation style, the Belchers really haven’t changed much. Most notably, the show has continued to introduce more interesting and unforgettable side characters into each season.

One of the most unforgettable side characters has to be Millie Frock. Voiced by Molly Shannon, Millie is a fellow fourth-grader in Louise’s class. She desperately wants to be Louise’s friend and will go to any length to try and get close to Louise. All of this is much to Louise’s chagrin but when Louise can get something out of it, she can tolerate Millie.

It’s no surprise we’re seeing Millie return and this time, it’s in the premiere of Season 12, “Manic Pixie Crap Show.” If you’ve watched the episode, then be sure to keep reading and if you haven’t, there will be spoilers for the first episode of Season 12. Either way, it’s worth asking if we’ll ever see Millie and Louise actually become friends.

Will Louise and Millie finally become friends on Bob’s Burgers?

Before answering the question, let’s break down the episode. The episode begins with Louise feeling unsettled about owing Millie a favor. She’s right to be hesitant as Millie wants her to join the Pixie Princess Promenade. She agrees, but isn’t excited to participate but has her own fun by stealing the wands Millie wants and even get roped up in Millie’s plan so they don’t get caught. Of course, things only get bonkers from there with Millie’s plan to use her parents’ phones as a means to communicate with Louise helping them trick the people looking for them.

Louise eventually talks to Millie and the other girls, trying to convince them that being part of the Pixie Princess Promenade is a waste of time. To fully cement the decision, Louise tells them to throw the wands in the pond and Tina tries to convince them not to do it. The episode ends with Louise realizing that maybe the other girls can like the Pixie Princess Promenade and there’s nothing wrong with her for not liking it along with her trying to get Millie reinstated.

Millie and Louise’s relationship has been the subject of many Bob’s Burgers episodes, but “Manic Pixie Crap Show” seemed to take it to a new level. Not only did we see Millie and Louise team up together, but we also watched them actually listen to each other. For once, Millie wasn’t just blindly following Louise and this time, Louise actually listened to some of the ideas and suggestions that Millie had.

For a majority of the episode, Louise and Millie got along which is pretty unheard of. Louise even tries to save face for Millie, too. While the episode focused more on Louise’s journey and her own insecurities, Millie played a big role in what she discovered. While the two aren’t exactly similar or “best friends,” they have a lot in common and it’s clear that Millie is pretty much willing to go along with Louise and vice versa as long as the plan is right.

While the episode didn’t exactly cement the two as best friends, it’s clear they’re more tolerable of each other than they were in the past. The only friend of Louise’s we really see appearing regularly is Regular-Sized Rudy. However, it would be nice to see her connect with another girl such as Millie. Even though Millie did try to kill her at one point, it seems like Louise has forgiven and forgotten that incriminating incident.

At this point, it really feels like we’ll eventually see an episode where Louise and Millie actually become friends. Thus far, we’ve only watched the two hang out, and then things fizzle out from there. It looked like the two would be friends at the end of Season 8 but four seasons later, we’re still waiting. However, I have a feeling that Bob’s Burgers will push the two together again, and we’ll see a legit friendship form. Until things change for Louise and Millie though, it’s fun to see Louise and Millie’s interactions.

Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.

Do you think Louise and Millie will ever become friends or are they friends already? What did you think of the Bob’s Burgers Season 12 premiere? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
