With the controversy surrounding the most recent season, ABC didn’t make a lot of noise about The Bachelor‘s future. However, in recent days we got news of a lead for the new season and a new host. It means The Bachelor Season 26 is on.

Yes, The Bachelor Season 26 is definitely happening. Considering the live ratings for the season, despite it being controversial, the renewal isn’t surprising. Why would ABC cancel its top performing reality show? It just wouldn’t. As long as there are viewers, the network is going to keep renewing it.

After all, if The Bachelor was canned, the other Bachelor Nation shows would likely have been canceled. There would always be controversy around them, wouldn’t there? Instead of canceling, the network has a chance to learn and grow.

Jesse Palmer is the new host for The Bachelor Season 26

The show has found its new host after Chris Harrison stepped down permanently. Jesse Palmer will step into hosting duties, according to Deadline.

For those who didn’t watch when the show first started, Palmer was the lead for The Bachelor Season 5. He’s since gone on to do hosting duties for a few shows and even at the Disney parks.

Having a former lead has certainly been great for The Bachelorette. There’s an insight that Tayshia and Kaitlyn have that Harrison has never been able to offer. Jesse will be able to do the same for the male leads on the series.

And who is the male lead? According to Cosmopolitan, Clayton Echard has landed that role. Wait, who?

Clayton will be on The Bachelorette Season 18. That’s Michelle Young’s season, and it’s not even premiered yet! Doesn’t it seem a little odd to get one from Michelle’s season? We’ve just had Katie’s season. Why couldn’t ABC choose someone from that group? Now we know that Clayton definitely won’t make it through the new season.

The new season will air in early 2022.

The Bachelor Season 26 will air sometime in early 2022 on ABC. The Bachelorette Season 18 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 19 with new episodes going to Hulu the next day.
