New Amsterdam Season 4 has started with Sharpe and Max leaving New York for London. Is Max really going to leave New Amsterdam Hospital for good?
So far, it looks like Max and Sharpe are heading to London. Sharpe has made it clear that she wants to return to her home country, and Max has decided to leave with her. They have just a few weeks left before their departure, and there doesn’t seem to be anything preventing them leaving.
One thing TV shows never seem to touch on is immigration. It’s not going to be all that easy for Max to just up and move to another country. Sharpe is a British citizen, so she’s fine. Max, not so much! But shows like to avoid discussing that unless it makes a good exit storyline or drama.
So, without that topic, it seems like Max is leaving New Amsterdam Hospital for good. Is that the case, and will it mean New Amsterdam Season 4 is the last?
Is Max leaving New Amsterdam in Season 4?
Right now, it’s not clear whether Max will leave or not. Ryan Eggold hasn’t confirmed or denied the speculation around his exit from the series just yet. That’s not surprising, though. He’ll want viewers to remain engaged in the storyline. Confirming or denying rumors would lead to spoilers.
The series has introduced Michelle Forbes as Dr. Veronica Fuentes. She clearly has no interest in continuing Max’s good work. She’s all about money and doesn’t seem to actually care about patients or making the world a better place. It’s possible that Max will realize what he’s risking and decide to stay in New York to continue making the world a better place.
Then there’s Luna and her grandparents. We’ve already seen Max’s in-laws fight for custody once. In the end, Luna’s grandparents and Max came to an agreement that was the best for Luna, but will they really be all that happy with Max taking their granddaughter to England? I’m surprised we haven’t seen them put up a fight yet.
We know that New Amsterdam Season 5 is happening. When the third season renewal happened, it came with a three-season renewal order. We’re guaranteed a fifth season, and it’s unlikely we’ll have that without Eggold, isn’t it?
