November has arrived and that means that the spooky season is behind us and it’s time to gear up for the holidays. It also means it’s time for awards-hungry films to start coming to us in waves so it is a great time of year for film lovers. To get your weekend started right, we’ll go over the latest offering of Netflix movies and shows.
Netflix is starting November off with a bang bringing both a star-studded film and a pair of fan-favorite shows this weekend. Just in case a Western isn’t your type of film, raunchy animated comedies aren’t your speed, and violent crime shows aren’t either Netflix gives you plenty of other content to supplement. A few of the other movies coming out this week feature familiar faces.
If you missed our list last week, there are a few entries from that list that you should have on your list as well. Both Army of Thieves and Colin in Black & White are both still among the top 10 Netflix movies and shows as of the time of this writing. The movie Hypnotic, featuring Dule Hill, is not in the overall top 10 but is among the top 10 Netflix movies.
Any of those three are worth a look, now let’s get to the new entries this week.
New Netflix movies and shows this week
- The Harder they Fall (movie), Nov 3
- Narcos: Mexico: Season 3, Nov 5
- Big Mouth: Season 5, Nov 5
- Love Hard (movie), Nov 5
- A Cop Movie, Nov 5
- Yara (movie), Nov 5 (Italian)
- The Unlikely Murderer (Limited Series), Nov 5 (Swedish)
- Father Christmas is Back (movie), Nov 7
Best show this week
This could have really been a tossup this week so I’m sticking with the show I at least have some familiarity with. When Narcos first arrived on Netflix it became popular quickly because it was about Pablo Escobar. Many thought the show wouldn’t last after Pablo was killed but the original show survived and now the spinoff show is entering its third season.
Narcos: Mexico follows the rise of the modern drug war from the early days of Mexican trafficking. The show began with the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s under kingpin Felix Gallardo. The new season will continue to feature portrayals of notorious kingpins Amado Fuentes and Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. As always, you can expect this season to be action-packed.
Best movie this week
I saved the best for last with the best movie of the week. Featuring the likes of Idris Elba, Jonathan Majors (Lovecraft Country), Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), Regina King, LaKeith Stanfield, Delroy Lindo- and I’ll stop there because this could go on for a while. It was impossible not to choose The Harder they Fall as the movie of the week.
Outlaw Nat Love (Majors) finds out that his rival Rufus Buck (Elba) is being released from prison and puts together a posse in pursuit of revenge. However, Buck has a posse of his own and this turns into a bloodbath of reportedly epic proportions. Early reviews are mentioning Tarantino in its descriptions of the stylistic carnage and apparently, the ensemble cast works as well. You can certainly do far worse as far as entertainment goes.
