Which movie Santa is your favorite? Here we share some of the best (and worst) movie Santas.
The Winter holiday season is right around the corner, which means it’s time to dust off the cobwebs all those holiday movies have been garnering over the past year. Holiday movies are a staple of many households as a tradition each year to watch some of the most beloved movies in cinema. Christmas is no stranger as these movies will, mostly, leave you feeling good and jolly about the times coming.
At the helm of many Christmas movies is the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus. To find the first time this big bellied and bearded man appeared in film you have to go back all the way to 1898 with the British Short Santa Claus directed by George Albert Smith.
From then on, Santa has been a staple of Christmas movies making tons of appearances year after year. Some of these appearances have shown Santa as the charismatic and fun loving gift giver he is, but others haven’t been so kind. Let’s just say, not every Santa has been a hit.
Who are the best movie Santas (and which is the worst)?
In the following list, I share how I feel about some of the many movie Santas. I based this list on the basic idea and spirit of Santa Claus, and which actor was able to display that spirit the best. With that being said, here is who I think are the best and worst Santas in film history.
