Friday TV ratings: Shark Tank up, Blue Bloods down [Nov. 19]

ABC had a good night in the live TV ratings on Friday, Nov. 19. The other networks were mixed or down for the most part. Here’s a look at the full results.

We’ll start with FOX’s WWE SmackDown. It pulled in almost 2 million viewers and a 0.5 demo rating. While not the top of the night, the numbers remain relatively steady each week.

CBS was the only network to have a rerun. There wasn’t a new episode of SWAT, which did arguably have a knock-on effect with the rest of the shows. Magnum PI and Blue Bloods were both down. For the first time in a while, Blue Bloods didn’t win the night. I don’t think there’s any reason to be concerned for the Friday shows, though.

Shark Tank and 20/20 up in the live TV ratings

ABC had a good night. It all started with Shark Tank gaining 13% in the demo and 15% in the audience. This is a great sign for the series, but it’s 20/20 that won the night. It gained 102% in the demo and 135% in the audience, winning the night in both metrics. The shows are sure to be renewed.

NBC saw a dip in the metrics for The Wall. It was down 9% in the demo and 11% in the audience. This isn’t a concern yet, but we will keep an eye on it. Hopefully, the season will stabilize soon.

Dateline was down 37% in the demo and down 31% in the audience. These numbers aren’t a concern. The show is up and down a lot due to the nature of the series, but we’re sure to see a renewal.

Finally, it’s all about The CW. Penn & Teller: Fool Us was up 42% in the demo and 8% in the audience. These are great metrics and we’re sure to see a renewal. The series is a staple for the network and excellent for reruns, so there’s no sense in The CW canceling the show.

Nancy Drew was down 100% in the demo but up 9.5% in the audience. While I’m on the fence, I do think the show will get a renewal but will likely move to the midseason. It could also be a fourth and final season. The CW does try to get shows to syndication after renewing for a second season so that is a good sign for Nancy Drew.
