Sunday night on American Idol, the Top 7 took to the stage in hopes of keeping their Idol dreams alive with the season finale quickly approaching!
In celebration of Mother’s Day, the Top 7 took to the stage to perform songs dedicated to their mothers and the mother figures in their lives. They then took to the stage to perform songs made popular by TikTok viral hits. Luckily, they had some help from Grammy-winner will.i.am, who mentored them along the way.
By the end of the night, another two contestants were sent home just weeks before the finale setting the stage for what promises to be an epic showdown between the remaining artists. What’s next for this season? Let’s take a look!

There will not be a new episode of American Idol season 20 airing this Monday night on ABC, with no episode scheduled for May 9, 2022.
Why isn’t American Idol new tonight on ABC?
Although most of this season of American Idol has unfolded over two nights, Idol has shifted to a once-a-week format for its final episodes and seems to be no longer airing episodes on Monday nights.

Instead of a new episode of Idol, ABC will be airing another Disney classic with a presentation of Moana airing from 8-10 p.m. ET on the network.
