It was mostly the usual night of programming on Friday, Dec. 3. Here’s a look at how the shows fared in the live TV ratings.
CBS and The CW had a standard night of shows. FOX also had a standard night of sports. It was ABC and NBC that had a slight change of programming.
ABC aired the Pac-12 Championship in the College Football. It pulled in some good numbers for ABC on a Friday, with 3.51 million people watching and a 0.7 demo rating. In fact, the demo was the best of the night.
NBC aired its Baking It special in the first hour of the night. It pulled in some okay numbers, with 2.16 million people tuning in. Dateline ticked up well in both metrics in the hour after, gaining 53% in the demo and 79% in the audience. We’re likely to see Dateline renewed. There’s no reason to cancel this staple of a show.
SWAT up, Nancy Drew down in the live TV ratings
CBS’s Friday night crime dramas performed well. SWAT started the night with both the demo and audience ticking up. The audience was up 5% and the third-best of the night, while the demo was up 13% and was the best of the night for the regular programming.
Magnum PI and Blue Bloods were the two shows to beat SWAT in the audience. While both shows did see downward ticks in the demo and Blue Bloods was down in the audience, there’s no reason for CBS to cancel any of the shows right now.
The CW started the night off well with Penn & teller: Fool Us up 25% in the demo and 8% in the audience. There’s no doubt this series will be renewed. It’s a great staple for the network.
Nancy Drew is on the line. It was down 100% in the demo and 22% in the audience. The one thing that is likely to save it is that The CW doesn’t tend to just outright cancel shows once they get past the first season. There’s a good chance it will be renewed, even if it gets a final season warning.
