For the last six weeks, we’ve been pulled into the event that is the Flux. Will the story continue on a new episode of Doctor Who tonight, Sunday, Dec. 12?
Let’s talk the Flux. For the last six episodes, we’ve watched this threat against the entire universe. Multiple aliens took advantage of it, while others tried to protect the people of Earth from it. Meanwhile, The Doctor and her companions looked into why it was happening to find a way to stop it.
Will the story continue tonight? Sadly, there isn’t a new episode of Doctor Who on tonight. There’s not even a rerun. We’ve got some time to wait for a new episode of the series.
Why isn’t a new episode of Doctor Who on tonight?
What’s going on with the schedule? Well, the previous episode was the Doctor Who Season 13 finale.
There were only six episodes to the season this year. We were warned of this happening, although the initial plan was to bring us eight episodes after initially reducing it from 11. This was all because of the pandemic. Filming delays meant that things had to be reworked.
It’s certainly clear how the Flux storyline needed more time. There was a lot going on and Swarm was certainly underused. It did feel like things were rushed at the end, and that could be due to the way the season had to be reduced because of COVID. At least The Doctor was reunited with her mates at the end of the episode, and we’re starting to learn more about her before William Hartnell’s regeneration.
There is now a wait on our hands. We’ll get a New Year’s Day special and then there are two more specials to come in 2022 before we say goodbye to Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor.
