Happy New Year, everybody! If you plan on tuning in to catch a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight, January 1, to start the new year with laughs, you may want to make new plans. But this doesn’t really mean the SNL isn’t on tonight, but there is no new episode. Who is hosting and when will the NBC sketch comedy series return with new episodes? Here’s what we know.
In November, Saturday Night Live skipped a couple of weeks due to Thanksgiving break. Hey, the cast and crew need to take time off to bond with family and friends just like the rest of us. The same for Christmas break and it continues this weekend for New Year’s Day and winter hiatus for the show. This means we won’t see a new episode for several more weeks.
Who is hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, January 1?
There is an episode of SNL scheduled to air tonight, but it’s not a new episode. If you were hoping to laugh along to new jokes, that won’t be the case, but the episode tonight is one of my favorites this season: Season 47 episode 5, hosted by Kieran Culkin with musical guest Ed Sheeran. The episode airs on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2022, at 11:30 p.m. only on NBC.
When is Saturday Night Live coming back with new episodes?
We are still not sure when Saturday Night Live season 47 will return with new episodes, but we know the season will continue through May 2022, so there are still many episode to look forward to. Our guess for season 47’s return date is either late January 2022 or mid February 2022. This means there is still time for your favorite celebrity or musician to take the SNL stage!
