After a short holiday hiatus, Bob’s Burgers is back. While the Christmas episode was pretty good, most of us are excited about the movie and the possible trailer being dropped during the CFB championship. Even so, it’s nice to see the Belchers back on the small screen.
Thus far in Season 12, we’ve watched as the Belchers had an unusual Thanksgiving, a Gene-centric Christmas and even, an episode where Louise and Millie could possibly become friends. As per most seasons of Bob’s Burgers, there have been shenanigans aplenty and it’s unlikely for that to stop anytime soon.
In Season 12 though, it’s really felt like we’ve watched the Belcher kids mature but that’s always subject to change. With an episode named “Touch of Eval(uations),” it doesn’t give us much to go on. Nevertheless, hopefully, the episode is a solid return for the Belchers.
If you haven’t watched Season 12’s “Touch of Eval(uations,)” there will be spoilers from this point on. If you have, be sure to let us know your favorite moment from the episode.
Here’s what you missed on Bob’s Burgers episode, “Touch of Eval(uations)”
The episode begins with the kids going to school and the teachers begin complimenting all of them. The kids find out that they’re going to be evaluating their own teachers and each of the teachers tries to make a case for themselves. Louise immediately takes advantage of it and wants them to wait to turn in their surveys so the teachers will keep being nice.
During school, all of the kids have as much fun as possible without consequences but Louise is still bothered by one of her grades. She eventually finds out that Miss. LaBonz doesn’t like how she doesn’t really try so Louise takes it out on her in her evaluation. Gene and Tina talk about how nice their evaluations were but Louise brags about how ruthless hers was.
Louise starts to feel bad about what she wrote especially after Miss. LaBonz talks about how Louise needs to be motivated and that’s why she’s harsh on Louise. To make things right, Louise decides to try and steal her evaluation so Miss. LaBonz won’t be hurt but she eventually makes it better by giving her a new evaluation via the PA system. In the end, Miss LaBonz ends up getting a prize for what Louise did and the two begin to argue, showing just how much they care.
Are Bob’s Burgers finally making Louise a more mature character?
Since the inception of Bob’s Burgers, each of the siblings has had a clear role. For Louise, it was her being a jokester and a somewhat sassy yet smart and at times, mean kid. It was a role the show has kept for the last ten years. However, it seems like Louise is finally starting to turn a new leaf and become a more mature character.
Within the past few seasons, we’ve watched as Louise decided to team up with her enemies, defend her siblings and even feel remorse for her questionable actions. In Season 12 though, the show has featured a new side to Louise. During the show’s season premiere, we watched as Louise teamed up with Millie and rarely complained about her and even decided to help her. It was frankly pretty surprising.
Louise also had the idea to make a remix of Gene’s favorite Christmas record and even went with Linda’s crazy plan to make her a loft bed. Obviously, we couldn’t forget about this week’s episode in which Louise realized her mistake with her teacher and tries to make things better. All in all, the episode did an excellent job of showing us how mature Louise can be and how she’s able to put others above herself when the time comes.
Honestly, it’s nice to see Louise mature and not rely so much on her childish antics. She might be the youngest of the Belcher siblings, but her maturity has gone up immensely within recent seasons. While she’s always down to prank or does something for a joke, it’s nice to see that Louise is starting to become more mature as the show progresses.
Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
