Shenmue the Animation release date, cast, synopsis, trailer, and more

A brand new anime called Shenmue the Animation is coming to Crunchyroll users’ screens soon, and just like them, we cannot contain our excitement about this upcoming release.

The series, adapted from the iconic SEGA video game created in 1999, is already gearing up to be a fan favorite, especially with its stunning trailer and intriguing synopsis. Who knows? Maybe this 2022 anime will stand alongside Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan as an action-thriller must-watch, but before it sits amongst the greats, learn everything there is to know about Shenmue the Animation, here.

Shenmue the Animation release date

Shenmue the Animation will officially release on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022 at 9:30 p.m. exclusively on Crunchyroll and Adult Swim.

There will be a total of 13 episodes, each expected to be under about 30 minutes in length and available in both Japanese-subbed and English-dubbed. And in speaking of dubbed, the cast of this series is going to blow your mind.

Shenmue the Animation synopsis

Who is Ryo Hazuki, you ask? Well, he’s the driving force of this heartwrenching story!

Heartbroken and confused by his father’s sudden death, Ryo sets out to not only find Lan Di, the man who killed his father but also sets out to understand the value or the mysterious mirror his father lost his life over. However, as he uncovers more and more secrets about his father’s life, he becomes conflicted in his resolve; the truth and responsibility too heavy for him to bear.

How will he overcome this tribulation and will he ever avenge his father? You’ll have to tune in to find out, but while you wait to do that, see the official synopsis via Crunchyroll, below:

Ryo Hazuki has trained to master the Hazuki Style Jujitsu under his strict father in the Hazuki Dojo from his childhood. However, one day a mysterious man named Lan Di murders his father and takes the “mirror” his father was protecting. Ryo is determined to find the truth behind his father’s murder, but soon finds himself getting stuck in a war between the underground organizations. Traveling from Yokosuka to Hong Kong, Ryo’s long journey begins!
