ABC has finally confirmed the return date for The Good Doctor Season 5. It’s much earlier than initially anticipated. Here’s all you need to know.
When The Good Doctor went on its winter break in December 2021, we had the bad news that it was going to be a long one. ABC didn’t even set a return date. All we knew was that it was coming back in spring 2022.
That meant we were ready for a February without new episodes. Things have changed. ABC has opted to bring the medical drama back much earlier than anticipated.
It turns out Promised Land just isn’t performing that well in the live ratings. There are a few factors that don’t help with this, including the fact that it’s going up against the Winter Olympics right now! However, ABC has decided to pull the new drama from the air and put The Good Doctor Season 5 back on.
When will The Good Doctor Season 5 return in 2022?
So, now we have the official return date. Get Monday, Feb. 28 in your diary. The episode airs at 10/9c after the two-hour episode of The Bachelor as normal.
The series will return to bring us answers to our big questions. The biggest is all about Shaun and Lea’s wedding. At the end of the winter finale, Shaun called off the wedding. He didn’t like the fact that Lea confronted him about manipulating his patient satisfaction scores.
Shortly after that, Shaun struggled to deal with a loss at the hospital. Ethicure’s financial constraints led to the death of a premature baby. It could have been avoided had the hospital spent just a little more money, and it led to Shaun going into a spiral. There is still some hope for the couple, but we need to see how Lea can help support Shaun after that loss.
