Are you ready to go on a worldwide treasure hunt with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in Uncharted? The film is set to premiere in the U.S. on Feb. 18. After the theatrical run, when will it arrive on Blu-ray and DVD?
In his first film since the record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home, Holland steps into the role of Nathan Drake, the young and charming treasure hunter based on the legendary video game character of the same name. Drake teams up with Wahlberg’s Sully, the older explorer and father figure to Nathan, to find the mysterious treasure of the Magellan expedition.
Drake and Sully will be in a race against time as they fend off Santiago Moncada (Banderas) and Jo Braddock (Tati Gabrielle), a heartless treasure hunter and mercenary, from finding the treasure first. Uncharted is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who directed Venom and Zombieland.
After its European premiere on Feb. 7, Uncharted is set to make a splash in the domestic box office starting Feb. 18. Sony, the studio behind the film, is projecting a four-day opening (President’s Day weekend) in the mid-$30 million range.
With the film only in theaters for the foreseeable future, many fans are anticipating the Blu-ray and DVD releases. When will that happen?
When will Uncharted be available on Blu-ray and DVD?
As of Feb. 16, Sony has not announced the Blu-ray and DVD release date. Due to its $120 million budget, the film will stay in theaters as long as possible to maximize its box office potential.
Uncharted will head to PVOD anywhere from 45-90 days after Feb. 18, depending on its theatrical window contract. It will then head to Blu-ray and DVD shortly after.
Let’s compare release dates to another Sony film like Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Released on Nov. 19, 2021, Ghostbusters: Afterlife arrived digitally on Jan 4. 2022, and in Blu-ray and DVD on Feb. 1. 2022. If Uncharted has a similar release strategy, then Holland’s adventure film will be available sometime in April before heading to Blu-ray and DVD in May or June.
