Is All American: Homecoming a spin-off series?

All American: Homecoming made its debut on Monday, Feb. 21. The series takes viewers to Bringston University, an HBCU in Atlanta. Fans of All American were first introduced to the college in season 3 when Spencer, Olivia, Simone, and Jordan visited the campus.

Season 4 of the show, which has focused on the characters’ last year in high school has been a rollercoaster since it started. The season opened with Coop’s life hanging in the balance and the future uncertain for the seniors.

With college on the horizon in that universe and the premiere of All American: Homecoming, the state of the franchise is in flux. As such, there are questions floating around about the fate and direction of the beloved original series and the new addition to the franchise.

Here’s what we know about All American Mondays on The CW.

Has All American been canceled?

There’s been no word on All American‘s future, but tere’s no indication that the show’s fourth season will be its last. The sports drama centered on Spencer James’ football career looks to be gearing up to transition into a college drama which is a pivot for its network considering it’s known for superhero shows and teen dramas.

Is All American: Homecoming a spin-off?

All American: Homecoming being greenlit is also an indication that its parent show isn’t going anywhere. It’s a spin-off series that’s focused on Simone Hicks. Her character got her start on All American and it’s her ties to Jordan, Olivia, and Spencer that’ll keep the series interconnected with one another.

Are All American characters in All American: Homecoming?

While Spencer and Olivia haven’t made an appearance on All American: Homecoming, Jordan has. That’s not surprising since he and Simone are still together. They’re in a long distance relationship that showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll says will be tested by their connections to other people but “what’s undeniable is the love the Jordan and Simone have for each other.”

Cam, Jordan and Spencer’s rival from All American, has made the jump to the spin-off series. He’s Damon’s roommate in the show and a potential love interest for Simone’s friend, Keisha.
