Euphoria season 2 episode 7 feels like two episode in one. We get to enjoy Lexi’s wonderful play, and also learn about special moments Lexi shared with those closest to her. Our favorite scene is the one where Lexi tries to comfort Rue her father’s memorial.
In this segment, Lexi shares that she knew about Rue’s drug usage, but didn’t understand just how bad the problem had become. At that time, Lexi is also aware of how much Rue is hurting, so she tries to make Rue feel a little better by sharing a poem with her.
The poem Lexi reads to Rue in Euphoria season 2 episode 7 is Let This Darkness Be A Bell Tower
The poem is titled “Let This Darkness Be A Bell Tower,” by Ranier Maria Rilke. The poem begins, “Quiet friend who has come so far, feel how your breathing makes more space around you. Let this darkness be a bell tower and you the bell.” A favorite line from the poem is “If the drink is bitter, turn yourself to wine.”

When Lexi finishes reading the poem, Rue is already passed out and Lexi takes the remaining pills from Rue’s sweater and leaves. Lexi shares that this is the moment she realized drugs are a bigger comfort than Lexi could ever be.
In the audience, we see Rue watching the play and she doesn’t appear bothered by the fact Lexi included this moment with the audience, which is sweet! We can even see a faint smile in Rue’s face when her character “Jade” is introduced. Rue is proud of Lexi and we hope this means Rue will try to be closer to her old friend.
