Is there going to be a Pivoting season 2?

A story about grief, friendship, and you guessed it – pivoting. FOX original series, Pivoting, follows three childhood friends, Amy, Jodie, and Sarah. After the sudden death of their friend Coleen, the women realize they need to make changes in their lives.

In the show’s first season, Amy realizes she needs to give her kids more attention rather than spending all her time at work. So she decides to become a “good” mom – in the afternoons. Jodie starts to put herself first as she notices how underappreciated she is by her kids and husband. This leads her to making a questionable decision of having an affair with her trainer. Lastly, there’s Sarah. Done with the doctor life, she decides to do something low-stress and gets a job at the local convenience store.

Pivoting first premiered on Jan. 9, and the finale left us with some cliffhangers for each character. Amy has to make a decision of whether she’s going to take a promotion at work or put her kids first. Jodie revealed to her husband how unhappy she is, and that conversation was left unfinished. And the last of the trio, Sarah, accidentally slept with Coleen’s husband and hasn’t told her friends. Yikes!

The 22-minute run episodes portray grief in a more light-hearted way, but no less respectful to the subject matter. Everyone processes grief differently and we see that with each of the main characters. I’d say there is still some more story to tell.

Is Pivoting renewed for season 2?

As of right now, there’s no word whether there will be a Pivoting season 2. The new FOX series just aired its finale on March 10. It is still a bit early for the network to decide how they want to move forward.

Based on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers are liking the show overall. It’s received 100% on the review-aggregation website based on 10 reviews, and an 81% audience score based on 31 reviews. Though if you look at the number of viewers who tuned in, the number started off pretty good with the premiere at almost 2.5 million U.S. viewers, but after each week less people were tuning in, with only 0.96K people watching the finale.

While its score on Rotten Tomatoes isn’t too bad, networks usually look at how many viewers are watching each week. There is a pretty good chance FOX will decide not to move forward with a Pivoting season 2. You never know though. Sometimes these networks surprise you!

Overall I do like Pivoting, especially since I’ll basically watch anything with Ginnifer Goodwin. At times the story did lose me, but I stuck with it until the end and wouldn’t mind a second season. I appreciated the friendship between the women. No unnecessary conflict was created just for the sake of drama. The characters are relatable, charming, and kind of wacky which makes it all the more fun to watch.
