All American: Homecoming made its debut on The CW in February, and the series has steadily gained a following. Led by All American alum, Geffri Maya as Simone Hicks, this spin-off series transports viewers to the city of Atlanta.
Simone’s life has never been easy but navigating young adulthood in a new state with a group of friends unaware of her past has led to some life experiences and circumstances she’s struggling to handle. Still, with Keisha, Nathaniel, Damon, and JR by her side, Simone is starting to come into her own.
The rising tennis phenom also has her aunt Amara in her corner. The journalism professor has her own issues to deal with at Bringston University, but she always makes time for her niece and the young people on campus trying to find their way.
The dynamic between all of the characters makes for a watch that includes a sense of community and camaraderie with a respect for the legacy of historically Black colleges and universities in American. It’s a combination that’s appealed to viewers along with its focus on tennis and baseball, romantic entanglements, and parent drama involving the character Damon who may be JR’s brother.

Is Bringston a real university?
No, Bringston University isn’t a real place. While Atlanta is home to world class institutions like Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Morehouse, Bringston isn’t among them. In fact, not only is All American: Homecoming‘s institute of higher learning fictional, it’s also not set in Atlanta.

Distractify reports that this CW series is primarily filmed in Burbank, California at Warner Bros. Studios. The crew behind the show are using a bit of TV magic to transform their California locations into Bringston.
