QUINTA BRUNSON, LISA ANN WALTER, SHERYL LEE RALPH
Abbott Elementary, the hit workplace comedy created and starring Quinta Brunson, made waves in the 2021-2022 television season. The freshman series won audiences with its humor, heart, and attention to the plight of teachers across the country but specifically in the city of Philadelphia.
Over the course of the first season, Brunson’s character Janine Teagues has done a lot of growing. The second grade teacher has the kind of enthusiasm and passion that’s needed in an educator, but she can also be short-sighted, optimistic to a fault, and stuck in her own vision of how children should be taught.
Each episode of the series has posed a test that Janine or one of her colleagues have had to overcome whether that’s finding funds for a new rug like in the season opener or talking to a parent about dropping their child off on time for school.
The season finale, “Zoo Balloon,” put Janine in a difficult position involving her professional and love life. While we won’t spoil what happened, her choice is certain to affect the show going forward. Can fans expect to see more from Abbott Elementary? Here’s what we know!
Has Abbott Elementary been renewed?
Yes! The series has been renewed for a season 2. We’ll be returned to the cast in the next TV season. This should come as no surprise since the series blew everyone’s expectations out of the water and is one of the best shows to premiere this year.
