When does the Black-ish series finale premiere on ABC?

After eight seasons, Black-ish is coming to a close.

The hit ABC sitcom that introduced audiences to the Johnson family has been a weekly staple since it premiered in 2014. Eight years have flown by fast.

Viewers have watched the Johnson kids grow up right before their eyes. Some have even joined Yara Shahidi’s character, Zoey, as she deals with her own struggles and triumphs at college in the Freeform spin-off, Grown-ish.

For fans who’ve stuck by this show through three presidencies, social reckoning, and the turbulence that comes with being a veteran show on a network, it’s going to be hard to say goodbye but the time has come.

When is the Black-ish series finale? Here’s what we know!

Black-ish series finale premiere date on ABC

The show’s final episode will air Tuesday, April 19 on ABC at 9 p.m. ET. Titled, “Homegoing,” the series finale will focus on the crossroads the Johnsons are at as they prepare to say their goodbyes to one another.

Pops and Ruby are finalizing their move. Dre and Bow are wondering if they, too, should be making a big life change. There’s a lot to think about as the family adjusts to their coming new normal. As is typical of this series, advice on what to do will come from an unexpected but also famous person as Simone Biles helps Dre figure out what to do.

Make sure you have your tissues ready. Saying goodbye to a beloved show is always hard.

Is there another Black-ish spin-off in the works?

Not currently, no. Old-ish, which would have focused on Pops and Ruby, wasn’t greenlit for a pilot order. However, the spin-off Grown-ish isn’t set to end yet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series has been renewed for a fifth season and Marcus Scribner will be joining the cast. So, you won’t be saying goodbye to the Johnsons entirely.
