American Idol 2022: Who made the Top 7 and who went home?

American Idol was back this week with fun Disney-themed performances, and three eliminations. We now have this season’s Top 7.

Triple threat star Derek Hough joined the Top 10 contestants to serve as mentor for the episode’s “Disney Night.” Before tonight’s performances, the Idol hopefuls were treated to magical surprises as they enjoyed a day at Disneyland Resort in California with family and friends.

Judge Katy Perry really went all out for Disney night. She was the only judge who got dressed and showed up as Ariel, tail and all. The singer took a literal dip when she fell over her chair before fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, as well as host Ryan Seacrest, helped her up. I mean out of all the Disney princesses, there are easier costumes to choose from.

But anyway, that was a bit of an amusing start to the night before the aspiring singers took to the stage to secure America’s votes.

Who made the American Idol Top 7?

Both the Platinum Ticket winners continue to hold voters’ hearts. Huntergirl’s sister joined her at Disneyland, and she sang “I See the Light” from Tangled. Jay Copeland’s mother paid him a visit before he took on “Remember Me” from Coco.

Here’s the full list of the Top 7 on American Idol 2022:

  • Christian Guardino, 21
  • Fritz Hager, 22
  • Huntergirl, 23
  • Jay Copeland, 23
  • Leah Marlene, 20
  • Nicolina Bozzo, 18
  • Noah Thompson, 20

Who went home on American Idol?

Unfortunately this week there wasn’t a chance for the judges to save anyone. In Sunday night’s episode we said goodbye to three contestants:

  • Emyrson Flora, 16
  • Lady K, 25
  • Mike Parker, 27

American Idol will be back tomorrow night with “The Great Idol Reunion” episode. In celebration of the milestone 20th season, some of the show’s greats like Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, among others will lend their voices on stage.

Tomorrow’s episode will also see OG American Idol judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, who make a comeback to the judges’ table Entertainment Tonight reports.

American Idol airs Sunday and Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, and episodes are available to stream on Hulu the next day they air.
