Stranger Things season 4 is now streaming on Netflix and has introduced new faces. At the same time, the new season reminds us of those we’ve lost. That said, is Barb (portrayed by Shannon Purser) in Stranger Things 4?
Spoilers ahead for those who have not yet watched the new episodes. Go binge-watch part 1 of the final season before reading ahead. Final spoiler warning!
Fans were all on the edge of their seats during the last half of Stranger Things season 4 episode 4 as we watched Max (Sadie Sink) fight for her life. Luckily, Max’s friends came through and discovered the power of music! Will Nancy (Natalia Dyer) have the same luck? That remains to be seen, but our fingers are crossed and our prayer circles have been made. We’ll learn what happens when part 2 arrives on Netflix on July 1. Until then, let’s see which characters who have died appeared in this season.
Is Barb (Shannon Purser) in Stranger Things season 4?
In episode 4, we see Billy (Dacre Montgomery) appear in Max’s mind. Max is still dealing with trauma from what happened to her brother and Vecna is trying to make Max feel guilty about it and blame herself for Billy’s death. The same happened to Nancy.
Vecna gets to Nancy when she least expects it, and shows her Barb’s decomposed body at the bottom of the pool. Just like with Max, Vecna wants Nancy to feel like she’s the reason Barb is dead (but honestly, she kinda is). But is this Shannon Purser? Did the series bring back the actress?
Unfortunately, no, and what a miss that is! I would have loved to see Purser reprise her role in a memory, just like Montgomery. Instead, we got CGI and we can barely make out that it’s Barb.
