With the way things ended on Grey’s Anatomy last week, there’s no doubt you want a new episode. What’s going on with the ABC schedule tonight?
Various characters have been left with fates unknown in Grey’s Anatomy. We saw a few exits, but it’s not clear how permanent they are. Nor do we know what’s going to happen with the residents now that the Residency Program has been closed down.
The bad news is we don’t get answers to our many questions tonight. Grey’s Anatomy isn’t airing new tonight. In fact, ABC won’t even have a rerun for us. Instead, the NBC Playoff between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat is airing on the network.
Why isn’t a new episode of Grey’s Anatomy on tonight?
The lack of new episode isn’t due to sport. Instead, the basketball gets to air without disrupting things. TGIT is already disrupted for another reason.
The previous episode was the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 finale. It was a two-hour event, and that’s the reason for the major cliffhanger. We know that there’s going to be a 19th season, so there will eventually be some answers to our burning questions.
When does Grey’s Anatomy return with new episodes?
How long is this wait going to be? It is a summer break, which means we’re looking at a four-month break. The good news ABC has already confirmed that the series will remain part of the fall lineup.
The show will return on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT in the fall. It will follow new episodes of spin-off Station 19, and it will lead into the new series Alaska.
What we don’t have yet is an exact premiere date. ABC won’t confirm the premiere dates until around June or July, but we’re expecting it sometime in the last week of September.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 is currently streaming on Hulu. It will move to Netflix on June 25.
