Where will Lightyear stream after theaters?

Toy Story fans have always wanted to know more about Buzz Lightyear. Now is the time to see his story, but where can we stream the movie after theaters?

Lightyear is finally out in theaters this week (out on Friday, June 17). It’s time to see the origin story of the space ranger Buzz Lightyear. While Tim Allen isn’t voicing the character, this is still a movie that all Toy Story fans are going to want to check out. Chris Evans will voice the role for this origin story.

While you can head to theaters right now, you’ll certainly want to watch the movie again at home. Sure, there is the DVD and Blu-ray, but you’ll want to see if it’s on a streaming platform you already have. Where is this movie going to head?

Where to stream Lightyear online

There is only one place this movie is going to go after the theatrical release. It’s all about Disney+.

Lightyear is a Pixar movie. All other Pixar movies have gone to Disney+ after the theatrical release. In fact, a lot of the movies headed straight to Disney+ when they came out in theaters. This was an answer to the pandemic issue with theaters being closed, but it’s also because it worked out financially viable for Pixar.

This movie isn’t going straight to Disney+. As it’s getting an IMAX run, it’s going to be exclusive to theaters for some time. It’s not clear when it’s going to head to Disney+ just yet. Disney+ hasn’t been all that consistent with the release dates of the movies on the streaming platform.

The movie has been banned in the United Arab Emirates. There is a moment where two female characters kiss, so the UAE has opted to ban the movie. It probably won’t come to the Disney+ platform out there, either.

Lightyear is out in theaters on Friday, June 17. It will come to Disney+ afterward.
