Is there a new episode of SWAT tonight? (October 29, 2021)

Friday has finally arrived! For CBS fans, there is no better way to cap off the week than with help from their favorite CBS Friday night dramas, which now include another incredible crime drama: S.W.A.T.!

After airing on Thursday nights during its first four seasons, S.W.A.T. made the move to Fridays this season where it has joined Magnum P.I. and Blue Bloods and seemed to have found new life with the show’s ratings climbing nicely since the move.

It’s the perfect complement to the network’s Friday night slate and with the show becoming appointment TV this fall since its October debut.

Is there a new episode of SWAT tonight, October 29?

While S.W.A.T. has been on a hot streak since its season premiere on Oct. 1, the show is about to take its first break of the season and will not be airing a new episode of season 5 tonight on CBS.

Instead of showing a new episode, CBS will instead be re-airing season 4’s “Local Heroes,” which saw the team racing to track down a crew of modern-day Robin Hoods.

Why isn’t SWAT on tonight?

No official reason has been provided as to why S.W.A.T. is not airing a new episode this Friday night; however, it seems likely the move was likely a strategic one by CBS. Tonight, FOX will be airing Game 3 of the World Series and it’s likely CBS didn’t want to risk a rating dip in pitting its shows against the MLB championship series.

When does SWAT return?

Although there is no new episode of S.W.A.T. airing this Friday night on CBS, the good news is fans won’t have to wait too long for the next new episode! Currently, S.W.A.T. is scheduled to return for its next new episode on Friday, Nov. 5.

In the episode, the team uncovers a murder plot against a famous football player while responding to a home invasion call, while Hicks receives a lead that has the potential to finally help him close a Jane Doe case from two decades ago.
