Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead, that’s me singing farewell to the week that was and getting us ready for the weekend. Today, we share the best new movies to watch in theaters and films available on streaming services that you don’t want to miss.

The month has been jampacked with new releases, but this weekend sees a TON of new movies hitting both theaters and streaming platforms. If you are like us, we struggle to keep up with what is coming out and how we can watch it. We want to make it a little easier for you, so we highlight the films you need to see and where you can watch them.

The biggest of all the new releases is Edgar Wright’s feature film return in Last Night in Soho. The movie like a majority of the films coming out over the next few months recently debuted at a few film festivals and was met with a wide range of reviews. We are also seeing the release of Antlers, A Mouthfull of Air and My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission.

Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy star as Eloise and Sandie in Last Night in Soho which follows these two women and how they are dealing with their past. I love Wright’s filmmaking and seeing him step into the world of psychological thriller has me excited.

New movies to stream from home this weekend

• Army of Thieves (Netflix)
• The Subject (VOD)
• Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin (Paramount+)

One of the films I wanted to highlight this week was The Subject. We see Jason Biggs take on the role of Phil Waterhouse, a documentary filmmaker whose last film caught the murder of a Black teen on tape. The film has a powerful and relatable subject matter, along with phenomenal performances from Biggs and Aunjanue Ellis and the rest of the cast. I highly recommend seeking this one out if you can.
