While ABC and NBC had specials to end the night, all other shows aired new episodes on Monday, Nov. 8. Here’s a look at the live TV ratings for the night.
ABC ended the night with a countdown to the CMA Awards special instead of a new episode of The Good Doctor. This was likely due to the pandemic, because the special was not as strong in the live TV ratings as a new episode of The Good Doctor would have been.
Meanwhile, NBC aired the pilot episode of Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol, the new Peacock series based on the novel of the same name. It’s a prequel story, though, with Ashley Zukerman as a young Robert Langdon. The show performed okay on linear, but it’s been doing well on Peacock that there are reports of talks for Season 2.
What about the rest of the shows and networks? Everything else aired new on Monday, Nov. 8.
All American up, 9-1-1 down in the live TV ratings
FOX saw its No. 1 drama fall again. 9-1-1 was down 15% in the demo and 7% in the audience. It’s not clear why these dips are happening. Are viewers just turning away from the crazy moments? Maybe it’s that there haven’t been that many crazy calls recently.
The Big Leap also fell 20% in the demo and almost 8% in the audience. This show is ending its run before the winter break and hasn’t had extra episodes ordered. It looks like the series is going to be canceled.
NBC started the night with a new episode of The Voice, which did pull in a joint top demo with 9-1-1 and Dancing With the Stars and won its timeslot in the audience. It still didn’t meet NCIS‘s audience numbers.
Speaking of NCIS, both of these shows saw dips in the audience, but only by a small amount. The demo for NCIS: Hawaii was down by 16%, but I don’t think this is a concern right now. NCIS‘s demo was up by about 1.5% and won the timeslot. I do have a feeling that both of these shows will be renewed.
The comedies on CBS also saw dips. The Neighborhood was down 7% in the demo and 5% in the audience. Bob Hearts Abishola was down 5% in the demo and 3% in the audience. I don’t think the dips are a cause for concern just yet. These comedies will likely be renewed.
ABC’s Dancing with the Stars was steady. It’s still just behind 9-1-1 in the audience, but it could take over next week. I doubt this show is canceled.
And finally, we’re onto The CW. All American was up 25% in the demo and 10% in the total audience. It is still the top show on The CW in the demo and second in the audience, so it’s going to be renewed. 4400 did see a steady audience and a 25% in the demo, and it’s the third-best show on the network in the demo. It’s the fifth-best in the audience, but I doubt this is worrying. This series is going to land a second season, and it deserves it after the storytelling so far.
