There’s a high-speed train rolling into Hollywood, and its name is Anya Taylor-Joy. The 25-year-old is on the cusp of superstardom as she will be one of the five biggest actresses by the age of 30.
Taylor-Joy made her film debut in 2015’s The Witch and quickly carved out her niche in the horror realm. Her next few roles included M. Night Shyamalan‘s Split and Glass, Morgan, and Marrowbone.
The year 2020 was a turning point for Taylor-Joy. She was no longer just a solid actress with leading roles in genre movies. Now, Taylor-Joy was set to become a star. The young actress began 2020 with Emma, based on the Jane Austen novel. The performance resulted in a Golden Globe nomination.
Then, her life changed with Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit. The show about a young chess prodigy and her rise to the top in the 1950s and 1960s became one of the most popular shows of the year. The Queen’s Gambit set a then-record for Netflix scripted limited series with 62 million viewers in the first 28 days.

The success of Queen’s Gambit propelled the actress to new heights in 2021 with her performance as Beth Harmon resulting in an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress and a win in the same category at the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards.
This past October, Taylor-Joy starred in Edgar Wright’s psychological horror, Last Night in Soho. The film received positive reviews from critics with many of them highlighting Taylor-Joy’s dazzling performance.

The roles keep coming in for the young actress. She will parlay a successful 2021 into a bright 2022 with roles in The Northman, the Untiled David O. Russell project, and a voice from in the Mario film.
These movies are big, but nothing will be greater than her role in the Mad Max Spinoff coming in 2024. Taylor-Joy will star as Furiosa, made famous by Charlize Theron in 2015, in the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel alongside Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
After a successful 2021 campaign, the possibilities are endless for one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood.
