To this day, a town is hunted by a triple murder that took place over 60 years ago. Which case does this new docuseries break down? What is The Murders at Starved Rock about?
If any platform knows how to put together a documentary, it’s HBO Max! The network is back with another case that’ll keep us on the edge of our seats. Below, we share everything we know so far about The Murders at Starved Rock, including the synopsis and release schedule.
What is The Murders at Starved Rock about?
As Oxygen shares, The Murders at Starved Rock is directed by Jody McVeigh-Schultz, follows the haunting case that took place in March of 1960, when three women (Frances Murphy, Lillian Oetting, and Mildred Linquist) from the Chicago suburb of Riverside were brutally murdered after going hiking.
The three women were close friends and members of a Presbyterian church in their town.
This wasn’t a regular hike. The friends had a detailed four-day trip planned. Due to the heavy snow, there was not a lot of evidence for police and investigators to track. The three-part HBO Max docuseries will look back at the case and follow the story from beginning to end, including how the town continues to be haunted by the murders.
The Murders at Starved Rock will also feature Chester Weger, the man found guilty of the murders and who was recently released on parole after serving 60 years in prison. There are also many people who believe Chester is innocent and forced to confess by corrupted cops who wanted to shut the case.
When do new episodes of The Murders at Starved Rock come out?
All three episodes are now streaming exclusively on HBO Max. Each part is one episode, so there are only three to watch, “Part 1: The Boogeyman” and “Part 2: Psychological Warfare” premiered on Dec. 14, and “Part 3: Memories” dropped on Dec. 15.
