Something we’ve been waiting for is the return of Grey’s Anatomy Season 18. Are new episodes on tonight, Thursday, Feb. 3?
We didn’t get any new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy throughout January. The good news is we will get a new episode in February, but it’s not happening yet. We’re not getting a new episode of the medical drama tonight.
There isn’t going to be a rerun, either. ABC has a couple of specials tonight, and the one taking Grey’s Anatomy‘s timeslot is Soul of a Nation Presents: X / o n e r a t e d – The Murder of Malcolm X and 55 Years to Justice.
Why isn’t a new episode of Grey’s Anatomy on tonight?
We knew we weren’t getting new episodes of the series any time soon. ABC made that pretty clear when the series went on its winter break. However, ABC didn’t fully explain why.
We’ve had to look at the reasons for it. Part of it is the pandemic and filming delays. Another part is the Winter Olympics airing on NBC, which start tonight. These games are going to be big draws for live viewers and that means other networks will suffer. ABC is putting on specials instead of competing with new episodes of expensive scripted shows.
When will new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy return?
We don’t have long to wait now. As mentioned, there will be a new episode of the series this month. We just have to wait until the end of the month.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 returns on Thursday, Feb. 24. This date was set when the show went on its winter break, and the delay in return to filming due to the pandemic hasn’t affected it. This episode will be a two-hour crossover event with spin-off Station 19.
