Riverdale season 6 premiered on The CW back in fall 2021. In season 5, the hit series had successfully navigated its transition from a teen murder mystery thriller (and occasional musical) to an adult equivalent that somehow had even more angst. But instead of dropping viewers into the aftermath of Hiram’s explosive parting gift for Archie, we were launched into an alternate universe with the “Rivervale” miniseries at the start of the sixth season.
For five episodes, we watched as things became weirder and more murder-y in the town with Pop’s. Riverdale’s alt-counterpart introduced us to its fair share of ghosts, gambled with the devil, sat us in the front row for a ritual sacrifice, and put us in an all-out race to save the town that we know and love.
Now with episode 6 of this season, “Chapter One Hundred and One: Unbelievable,” set to make its premiere, we’ll be dealing with some form of consequences for these two universes interacting. How will this effect Archie and the gang? You’ll have to watch and see but thankfully the wait is almost over!
Is Riverdale season 6 on tonight?
Yes, Riverdale will finally make its return to The CW tonight, Sunday, March 20 at 8 p.m. ET. The season had originally been scheduled for a March 13 return, however, it had been bumped for the Critics’ Choice Awards which had been delayed due to Covid-19.
Here’s the official synopsis for “Chapter One Hundred and One: Unbelievable” via The CW:
As news begins to spread about the bombing at the Andrew’s home, Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) begin to deal with mysterious side effects from the explosion. Elsewhere, Veronica (Camila Mendes) spirals after learning that Hiram may have been involved, and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) is consumed with guilt when she believes she may have had a hand in the explosion.
