Renewals are starting to come in across the networks. What about a renewal for The Good Doctor? Is The Good Doctor Season 6 going to happen?
The networks are starting to announce their renewals. That’s normal this time of year, with select shows getting early renewals between January and March of each year. The bulk of them come in April and May.
ABC has been pretty quiet on a lot of its shows so far. We know Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 are both coming back for new seasons, but that’s about it. Well, things have changed now with more renewals happening.
Is The Good Doctor Season 6 happening at ABC?
ABC has confirmed that The Good Doctor is renewed for Season 6. This isn’t all that surprising when you consider the success of the series. It is the No. 1 drama in both the total viewers and audience in the Monday 10/9c timeslot, according to Deadline.
When Promised Land failed to find its audience, ABC made a quick switch. The new drama headed to Hulu to finish out its run and The Good Doctor returned earlier than anticipated in February 2022. That was a sure sign that a renewal was going to happen.
When will The Good Doctor Season 6 premiere?
Now eyes are on the premiere date, of course. We’ve not even got to the Season 5 finale yet, but we want to know how long the summer hiatus is going to be.
There isn’t a premiere date just yet. We’re not expecting to get that news until sometime in June 2022 at the earliest. However, we’ll find out if it’s part of the fall schedule in May. We’re fully expecting it to be on there. The success of the series means ABC is highly unlikely to move it out of the Monday night timeslot.
