The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On was quite the ride. Those who issued the ultimatum to their partners were in for more than they expected. It’s hard coming to terms with the faults in your relationship and it doesn’t help matters when your significant other is given the opportunity to explore a romance with someone also participating in the show.
Over the course of two months, the couples were put through the ringer. April, who’d been so sure of her relationship with Jake, witnessed his growing attraction and care for Rae. Zay was in the same boat watching Rae develop feelings for Jake. Shanique grappled with the connection between Madelyn and Randall, while Colby stepped outside of the show’s experience to see if he could connect with someone besides his girlfriend.
To say The Ultimatum got messy would be an understatement. Hearts were left bruised by the time the finale rolled around. Between verbal altercations, one out of control moment between Rae and Zay, Colby’s refusal to own up to his betrayal of Madelyn, and Shanique and Zay’s fumble in the sheets, emotions were high throughout the show.
How did things shake out for the couples? Here’s what we know!
Which couples got engaged on The Ultimatum?
Shanique and Randall
Randall proposed to Shanique. This experience showed him that she’s the woman for him. Despite his connection with Madelyn, he chose Shanique because she’s his best friend and the person he knows he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Shanique said yes. This is exactly what she wanted from the show and it also taught her a lot about herself and what she needs to work on in their relationship.
Madelyn and Colby
Going into the finale, it was unclear which way things would go with Colby and Madelyn. She’d left him at the dinner table on their last night together because he couldn’t own up to how he hurt her by stepping outside of the show to find a connection. However, it turns out Colby later called her and he finally accepted responsibility for his own actions instead of putting them on her.
Colby admitting his mistake ultimately led Madelyn to say yes to him when he proposed to her. She said that she didn’t need a perfect man, she just needed a man who could own when he messed up. As far as Colby, he’s been clear from the beginning that Madelyn is his dream girl.
These two couples join Lauren/Nate and Alexis/Hunter as the couples that came out of this experience engaged.
Which couples broke up on The Ultimatum?
April and Jake
It was obvious that April and Jake weren’t long for this world as a couple the moment Jake began to vibe with Rae. While April insisted that their relationship was strong enough to handle the stress of The Ultimatum, it wasn’t. The two clearly love one another but Jake still wasn’t ready to marry her and decided to let her go.
We should note, however, it’s not like Jake didn’t have another option waiting in the wings. After he split with April, he and Rae met up. With big smiles on their faces and Jake offering Rae a trip anywhere she wanted to go in the world, the two decided to see where their relationship might go.
Which couples got married on The Ultimatum?
The only couple to get married on the show was Colby and Madelyn. After he proposed, he asked her if she was fine getting married right then and there and she said yes!
Who’s still together in The Ultimatum reunion?
- Madelyn and Colby – Still married. They have a baby girl on the way and are very happy together.
- Shanique and Randall – They broke off their engagement and relationship for six months before ultimately deciding to get back together. They’re working things out and are not engaged.

Instead they decided to try again with their respective partners but ultimately called it quits with April and Zay again. Jake didn’t mention a significant other, however, Rae does have a girlfriend.
- Lauren and Nate – Still together
- Alexis and Hunter – Still together. They’re planning their wedding.
