We Own This City is the latest crime drama to premiere on HBO. From the minds behind The Wire, this show will take viewers to Baltimore in the aftermath of Freddie Gray’s death. It’s been two years and, while the uprising has long since quelled, there’s yet to be true reform among the ranks of the Baltimore Police Department.
Officers like Daniel Hersl (Josh Charles), who’ve wracked up multiple complaints, are still on the streets. Policing is either not being done at all or it’s being left to officers who, yes make arrests, but who also are participating in the very crimes they’re supposed to be stopping. For instance, there are members of the department’s Gun Trace Task Force that are dipping into the well for their own benefit.
The corruption runs deep in this series and one of the men at its center is Sgt. Wayne Jenkins (Jon Bernthal), whose charm offense and mind leans towards gaming the system. Protect and serve may be the motto but who that sentiment extends to shifts with the players involved and who has information that can be traded.
We Own This City is expected to be unflinching in its examination of this particular time in Baltimore history from the city to its governing and policing systems. If you’re looking to tune in to the show, here’s its release schedule!

We Own This City will have a limited run on HBO. The series has a total of six episodes that will release weekly on the network starting Monday, April 25 at 9 p.m. ET.
HBO Max subscribers will be able to stream new episodes on platform as it’ll be simulcast on the streamer. As this is a limited series, we don’t expect the series will get a second season order, so once it finishes its run, you’ll have the complete story.
