Shining Girls new Apple TV+ original series, global premiere on April 29, Elisabeth Moss as Kirby in season 1 episode 1
Apple TV+‘s new show, Shining Girls, will be streaming on our screens very soon! The thriller series starring The Handmaid’s Tale actress Elisabeth Moss will be coming out on April 29.
Moss plays Chicago newspaper archivist, Kirby. Her journalistic ambition was put on hold after a traumatic assault six years prior. A recent murder seems to mirror her own case, so she partners with seasoned but troubled reporter Dan Velazquez to uncover her attacker’s identity.
In their search, the two discover the person they’re looking for is a serial killer as multiple unsolved murders of women turn out to be linked. With a science-fiction element thrown in, Kirby’s constantly shifting reality allows the assailant to remain one step ahead.
Shining Girls is based on Lauren Beukes’ novel of the same name, and the author serves as one of the show’s executive producers. The series has been adapted for television by showrunner and writer Silka Luisa. We recently spoke with Luisa and she talked about the show’s deviations from the book. Does Shining Girls release weekly episodes or is it a binge-watch?
The eight-episode season of Shining Girls will release weekly, but there’s some good news. On April 29, the first three episodes will drop on Apple TV+. That’s actually a generous amount to be released all at once! This will be followed by one new episode releasing weekly every Friday.
The subject matter of the thriller series can get a bit intense but don’t worry, it’s not too bad. If you enjoy this genre, you’re used to it! However, a weekly break isn’t a bad idea. It will help us process what goes down in each episode.
