Why Jackal is the perfect villain for The Amazing Spider-Man 3

Quite recently, after the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans of the franchise were swept away by the appearance of Andrew Garfield reprising his role as the webhead and have called for Marvel and Sony to allow him to finish his trilogy, as he only completed two Spider-Man films. Since No Way Home has grossed nearly $2 billion at the global box office, it only stands to reason that more projects related to the hero would come into fruition.

There are already so many projects to choose from and it was recently announced that Dakota Johnson would be starring in the Madame Web Spider-Man spin-off. However, there is one villain fans should give more notice to. Spidey fans have seen Goblin, Electro, Lizard, and Dock Ock, but a villain fans have yet to encounter is Jackal.

In the comics, Jackal’s real name is Miles Warren, a professor that became severely obsessed with Gwen Stacy, who was Peter Parker’s love interest at the time. After Stacy is killed by Green Goblin, Warren becomes distraught and vows to take his pain out on Spider-Man. Further, Warren’s science experiments go awry and he–in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde fashion– becomes the Jackal.

Jackal has a proper motivation in The Amazing Spider-Man 3

Given that if The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is greenlit by the studios, it would mean that Gwen Stacy will already be dead by the beginning of the film and that should open up a gateway for the character as Warren has always had feelings for her.

Of course, this would have to be established beforehand so that he could get proper development and not be shallow in his execution.

There could be a close bond to Jackal and Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man 3

One thing that all Spider-Man villains have in common is that they have a close bond with one another and one thing that must be done well is the type of bond that Warren and Peter Parker have with one another. It seems that the two could have a relationship like Parker and Dr. Curt Connors had in The Amazing Spider-Man. Parker helped Connors with the process of regrowing limbs and it ultimately turned him into a giant lizard.

That could be a great storyline to utilize as it preserves the stronger relationship with the hero and villain. All that would need to be done would be to add a love triangle by exploiting the unhealthy relationship that Warren was having with Gwen Stacy.

Jackal is a relatively new villain

The most obvious reason to put Jackal into the third installment of The Amazing Spider-Man series is because he is a new villain. People have already seen Lizard, Vulture and–for the umpteenth time– Green Goblin.

It would be a lot more refreshing to see the spider go up against a villain that has never been seen before because exploring new territory is a lot more interesting than dusting off an old book you already read many times.
