Update: May 12, 2022 – TVLine reports Magnum P.I. has been canceled
Magnum P.I. season 4 comes to an end on Friday, May 6.
The finale episode, “Close to Home,” will see Magnum and Higgins on a dangerous and deadly mission. They’re pulled into it when a criminal abducts Katsumoto and his ex-wife, Beth. The setting for this episode is a high security correctional center. We expect tensions to be at an all time high.
But, as fans hang onto the edge of their seats waiting to see if the CBS series will leave them on a cliffhanger or resolve any season long drama, the big question is whether they can expect the show to return.
Here’s what we know about a season 5 of Magnum P.I.
Is Magnum P.I. canceled?
No, the series hasn’t been canceled. The season 4 finale hasn’t been marked as the show’s final episode, so fans won’t be going into the finale with the weight of a cancellation to contend with, however, the show isn’t out of the woods.
Has Magnum P.I. been renewed?
The show hasn’t been renewed either. Magnum P.I. is currently on the bubble, meaning it could go either way. TVLine reports that last episode was a series low for the CBS drama with 4.7 million viewers watching and a 0.3 in the demo. While that’s not encouraging, it doesn’t mean fans should be shaking in their boots.
Live viewership is down in general on broadcast television, and Magnum P.I. still drew the second biggest audience on the night. It was second only to its fellow CBS series, Blue Bloods, which topped out at 5.6 million viewers and also had a 0.3 in the demo.
